Sewing With A Purpose

Sewing With a Purpose started in 2018. Our primary mission was to make pillowcases for The Gateway Women’s and Children’s Center in Holland. We make 30 pillowcases and donate 30 pillows each month for the people that need temporary housing. In the last 5 years we have made over 2,450 pillowcases. I have 4- 6 regular sewers that meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays 6:30-8:30pm at Cultivate Church.

We also just started making burp cloths for 1st night foster care backpacks of babies. We have made over 125 so far. I also gift quilts to those in our church/community that I hear are going through a difficult time. I am presently working on my 47th quilt. If you are interested in joining us to make either pillowcases or burp cloths you can contact Mary Folkert.
