A Community In Need

It is no secret that the COV-19 outbreak is now directly impacting the community of West Michigan. How does being Jesus followers impact our reaction? It appears that God has brought a direct need right into our backyards and I believe Jesus calls those who are healthy and able to reach out and do something.

“35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’” Matthew 25:35-40

In Matthew 25, Jesus paints us a beautiful picture of what caring for people in need looks like. At the end of the scripture he states that each time we care for someone who was in need, we were truly caring for him. At this time, we are surrounded by multiple opportunities to step up and serve not only the community, but Jesus himself. Below are some of those opportunities:

  • We have a church community of all ages, including a 65+ community that may be unable to leave their homes in the upcoming week. We would love some people to purchase and deliver groceries to congregation members that are unable to leave their homes.
  • You can donate non-perishable food items and toilet paper to our food pantry for people in our community to access.
  • As you wash your hands throughout the day, pray for families and individuals who are being impacted by the flu directly.
  • Continue checking the Ridge Point Fearless Follower update page for more ways to serve and get involved.

If you are interested in any of these options or have other ideas of how to serve our community, please reach out to MaryJoB@fearlessfollower.org.
