You Are Valued

Text: Luke 1:26-38, 46-48

God Values Us

Taking a Deeper Dive

Question 1 – What is your best Christmas memory? What made it memorable? Share with the group.

Question 2 – Mary is a young woman, engaged to be married to Joseph and about to begin the life of her dreams. But her world is forever changed by an angelic announcement. Reflect on a time when your life was unexpectedly changed by a situation out of your control. How did you respond?

Question 3 – The story of Mary is the culmination of a greater story going all the way back to Genesis. God loves us enough to give up everything to become, so to speak, nothing so we may have life and have it to the full. Do you believe this message? Who are the people in your life who have questions or need to know the Lord that you can share the Gospel with this Christmas?

Question 4 – Read Luke 1:46-55. Read verse 37 and 46-49. Mary’s responses revealed her great humility and trust in God. Why was it important that Mary was humble? What if she had been proud? Could God have used her in the same way? Why or why not?

Question 5   Faced with an unprecedented situation that had disrupted her life, Mary turned to the one person she felt could understand her – Elizabeth. Who do you turn to when your life hits the rocks? Why?

Question 6 – Everything about her, her low place in life, her femaleness, her virgin-ness, her place in a family, her promised husband, where she lives and who she will marry. It all matters to God and it’s all a part of the work to bring glory to God. Do you believe that God can give meaning to all of your life – the good, the bad and even the ugly? How would your attitude towards your story change if you accepted this truth?
