Discipleship is not a program, it’s a lifestyle.

Showing the way of Jesus

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” ~Hebrews 12:1-2

Sometimes I believe the word “Discipleship” scares most all of us. It’s like, “do I have to do that too” besides trying to do or be everything else I’m supposed to? It’s not easy trying to check every box. There are many important boxes when you are a mother, wife, dad, husband, school age, and even old age.

Please realize, Jesus never meant it to be another box to check. Not another program to be involved in. Not another class to take.

We were never meant to journey alone. We need to recognize that having someone else walking with us will open our eyes to see things we all miss. Which will give us more opportunity for discipleship. Chuck Colson says, “We are probably the worst judge of our own motives.”

We are given such an opportunity to grow, and then bring this new life we are living into every area we enter. Reminds me of 1st Corinthians 13:1, “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.”

School, church, work, home, neighbor’s, life! That’s not a program, that’s a lifestyle. I know you all have it in you.

Run the race!
