Text: 1 Kings 17

Message Notes:

  1. Focus on What You Can Give
  2. God Can Do Something Extra with Your Ordinary
  3. Faith Is The Bridge From Ordinary to Extraordinary

Taking a Deeper Dive:

Reflect on and answer the following questions for personal study and/or for discussion with your life group or at home with your family.

  1. Who do you think our culture and society considers extra-ordinary?
  2. What makes people believe they are just ordinary people living an ordinary life?
  3. Which do you think is better? To be extraordinary at something or to be an extraordinary person?
  4. Read 1 Kings 17:1-16. The Widow of Zarephath had a little food and water, just enough for her and her son for one last meal. But it was enough for her to share? Are you more prone to look at what you have as too little to share?
  5. “We all have to make a choice to focus on how we see those around us and what do have to offer…”When do you find yourself focusing on what you lack instead of what you have to give and why?
  6. “Sometimes we think that we don’t have much to offer. But all the while God is saying – what you think is ordinary can be extraordinary if you just TRUST me with it…” Trusting God means letting go and letting God. What ordinary thing do you need to let go of to experience God’s extraordinary?
  7. “Faith is the bridge from ordinary to extraordinary.” What do you have that is Ordinary that in faith God can make extraordinary?
  8. What prayerful steps of faith can you take over the next few days to move towards the extraordinary?
