Forgiven Week 1

Sermon Title:

Forgiven by God

Text:

Luke 23: 44-45; 24:44-49

Message Notes:
  • What do you wish God would do for you this Easter?
  • God’s wish is to forgive you.
  • God will forgive you, if you ask!
Deeper Dive:

QUESTION 1 – If you knew for certain that your wish would come true, what would you wish for and why?

QUESTION 2 – Have you ever imagined that God’s main concern is not making your wish come true but making the wish He has for you come true? What wish do you think God might have for you? Explain.

QUESTION 3 – Easter reminds us that in Christ, God has fully and freely forgiven us of our sins. Do you struggle to believe that God can and has fully and completely forgiven your sins? Why?

QUESTION 4 – We learn from Luke 23:44-45 that the tearing of the curtain that separated the Holy of Holies and the Holy Place means that God’s wish is to forgive us and grant us full access to a Holy God through Christ. What does full access to God mean to you?

QUESTION 5 – God offers forgiveness in Christ. But receiving forgiveness can be difficult. Is there anything in the past or present keeping you from receiving God’s forgiveness? Share with the group.

QUESTION 6 – We see in Luke 24:44-49 that God’s wish is not only to forgive us our sins but to also empower us to proclaim forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ. How can you proclaim God’s forgiveness through your words and actions this week?

PRAYER – Pray that you will be diligent in receiving God’s forgiveness and proclaiming it to others through your words and actions.
