Have You Considered Baptism?

In February 2013, my wife Cynthia and I stood before a large group of family and friends to make our marriage vows. We promised to love each other faithfully for as long as we both shall live. The words we spoke that day reflected the commitment we have already made in our hearts and minds long before taking those vows. We wanted to publicly declare our love for each other, our decision to journey together as husband and wife, and invite our family and friends to pray for and encourage us along the way.

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward decision to receive the gift of salvation. It’s the physical expression of what has happened spiritually in your heart. It was a very private moment when you gave your heart to Jesus, just between God and you. Baptism is letting the world know you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus and fearlessly make Him known. When we go into the waters of Baptism, we proclaim that we are going all in for Jesus.

If you haven’t been baptized, the question is not “why?,” but “why not?” Saying you haven’t come around to it is not good enough. Baptism is an important step of obedience for everyone who has received the gift of salvation. In Baptism, we publicly identify ourselves with Jesus and His Church. That is why we are excited to provide regular opportunities for baptism and invite you to get baptized. That is why we go crazy cheering for you as you step in and out of the waters!

The next Baptism is scheduled for the Father’s Day weekend (June 19/20th). Registration is open at https://ridgepointff.org/next-steps/believerbaptism/. A baptism preparation class is taking place this Sunday, June 13th at 9.15am in Conference Room 1. If you have any questions about Baptism, please plan to attend this class.

So, have you considered baptism? We have the water. Our pastors are ready. All you need to do is step up and step in!

Blessings,

Jerry Rawlings
