HI GOD – Week 3 (Ask)

Hi God…

Learning to Pray

Week 3: Ask

Text: Matthew 6:11

Message Guide:

  • Ask for Physical Needs
  • Ask for Relational Needs
  • Ask for Spiritual Needs

Deeper Dive:

Question 1 – When has someone given you less or more than you asked for?

Question 2 – Read Matt. 6:11, Matt. 7:7-11, John 6:35. What stands out to you from these Bible passages and this weekend’s teaching? Why?

Question 3 – How would you define a need? What do you find yourself currently in need of but are struggling to ask God?

Question 4 – What in this week’s reading from Draw the Circle did you find most impactful and relevant to our discussion on prayer? Why?

Question 5 – Batterson says that prayer involves talking to God about your problems. But what does it mean to talk to your problems about God? How would that shift your focus in prayer?

Question 6 – One key thing about asking that Batterson points out is persistence. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest, how would you rate your persistence in prayer? What would practicing persistence look like in your life?

Question 7 – When bold prayers become the norm in your life, so do the miraculous breakthroughs that follow. What are some bold prayers you need to pray today? Do you mind sharing with the group?

End in Prayer: It is easy to think we only need God to provide for our spiritual needs. But God wants to meet our physical, relational, and spiritual needs. Share one current need in each of these areas and pray for each other.
