Week 1: Love God, Love People
Text: Mark 12:29-31; Deut. 6:4-5
This initial teaching will setup the series and launch the book study. In this first teaching we will examine the significance of the “Greatest Commandment” and point to the foundation of the law and core values of Israel. Additionally, we will explore how Jesus lived and commanded his followers to live it out.

Week 2: Love of the Father (Reading: 1-7)
Text: Luke 15:11-32 (The Lost Son)
This second teaching will begin with understanding the love that God (our Father) has for us. As we focus on the parable of the lost son – we will find that the heart of God is constantly longing to love His children and bring them back. In order for us to love God and others – we must first embrace the love that God has for us.

Week 3: Love Inward (Reading: 8-14)
Text: Ps. 139
This third teaching will focus on loving ourselves. This goes beyond a “worldly” sense of “self-love” and focuses specifically on treating and seeing ourselves through a lens of worth, dignity and self-respect. Ultimately – we cannot love others as ourselves if we don’t first love ourselves rightly.

Week 4: Love Outward (Reading: 15-21)
Text: Matthew 5:13-16; Matthew 7:12
This fourth teaching will focus the importance of tangibly and practically loving God and others. Love is meant to be shown and shared so people can better know and experience God.

Week 5: Love Without Limits (Reading: 22-28)
Text: Acts 10
This fifth teaching will focus on loving those that are challenging for us to love. Whether due to past hurts, prejudices, or traditions we all have barriers that keep us from loving others in a manner that Jesus asks of us. With God’s help and the power of the Holy Spirit – we can follow Jesus beyond our barriers and into a deeper love of others (even those we struggle to love).

Week 6: Love Is (Reading: 29-35)
Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1-12
This sixth week will explore the attributes and characteristics of God’s unconditional and overwhelming love. This will allow us an opportunity to reinforce the foundational significance of love in our relationships and explore how we can see love as the language and currency of the Kingdom of Jesus.

Week 7: Love Does (Reading: 36-40)
Text: Matt 20:25-27
In the final week of our series we will explore the posture of the love Jesus showed as he served and sacrificed for others.
