The Gospel Symbols

The Gospel is God’s GOOD NEWS that Jesus can make us new now and forever!

As followers of Jesus we want to share that Good News with everyone around us. Sometimes the Gospel story can feel complicated. Through the use of simple symbols and specific symbols we can help others understand the Gospel Story in a way that is easy to remember! Use this helpful guide as a tool to help share the gospel with a friend!

Creation

God created a world that was good and created people to be good. We were created to live without suffering or brokenness. (See Genesis 1, John 1:1)

Rebellion

Sadly people rebelled against God and sinned. Because of that we feel suffering, and our world isn’t the way God wants it. (See Genesis 3, Romans 3:23)

Kingdom Come

God sent His Son Jesus to show us how to obey God again and to make a new Kingdom (a new way of living in God’s ways). (See John 1:14)

The Cross

Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins. Because of His death, we can be forgiven! (See John 3:16)

The Resurrection

Jesus was resurrected through God’s power! He came back to life and now lives forever as King of God’s new kingdom. If we follow Him as King, we can live a new life now and forever! (See 1 Peter 1:30)

Receive the Gospel and Embrace Jesus

When we receive the gospel and embrace Jesus, God lives in us through the power of the Holy Spirit! (See 1 John 1:8-9; Romans 10:9)

Commission

Jesus commissions His followers with an important job in His Kingdom! He tells us to make disciples, telling people the gospel story as we follow Jesus and Fearlessly Make Him Known. (See Mathew 28:19-20)

Receiving the Gospel (Remember Your ABCs)

A – Admit you are a sinner. The proper response to your broken relationship with God is not to try harder, but to ADMIT you can’t save yourself.

B – Believe in Jesus and what He has done. Jesus’ life, death and resurrection really happened and when we accept this truth in faith and belief we are forgiven and receive new life now and forever.

C – Commit to follow Jesus. Now that you are forgiven and made new, you have a new leader. Jesus is Lord and King of God’s new kingdom! Commit to follow His leadership and obey His commands!

1 Corinthians 15:1-5

“Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.”
