Deeper Dive:

Reflect on and answer the following questions…

Intro- This week is about the importance of knowing what the Bible “means” and how context, genre and the intent of the author helps us see how the Bible fits together to connect us to Jesus.

Question 1 – Have you ever gotten lost? How did you find your way? Share the story.

Question 2 – What does it mean to you that the Bible is a map to the Great Adventure God has given us? How does this change the way you read the Bible?

Question 3 – In 1 Timothy 4:11-16, Paul tells Timothy to be diligent in studying the Bible, give himself wholly to it and watch his doctrine closely. Which if these three areas do you excel in what which do you need to work on?

Question 4 – If study is the path to the Great Adventure, on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being very) how consistent are you in studying the Bible? What steps can you take to be more consistent?

Question 5 – Studying the Bible means discovering it meant to its original listeners and determining what it means to us today. Why do you think this important?

Question 6 – Questions to help with background information include knowing the author, date, audience, and historical situation for the writing of the book. Practice reading 1 Timothy 4 using a Study Bible.

Prayer – Pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance as you study His word (Psalm 119:18)
