Reflect on and answer the following questions for personal study and/or for discussion with your life group or at home with your family.

Question 1

Jesus’ prayer in John 17 is often referred to a His priestly prayer. He prays to God on behalf of His followers. Have you ever prayed to God for someone else? What was your reasoning? What was your prayer?

Jesus prays for His followers and asks God to help them do the work of sharing the gospel – He prays for their unity. How are sharing the gospel and unity related?

Question 3

What kind of division has the church faced over the years? In your opinion, how has the church handled it?

Question 4

What kind of division is the church facing now? How are we handling it?

Question 5

Jesus saw oneness and unity as a priority. Do you?

Question 6

Do you have anyone in your life (in the church) that you disagree politically from? Why or why not?

Question 7

What will you do this week to pursue unity in your relationships – specifically with those who hold differing politically views from you?
