Celebrating Big Serve

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. – James 2: 15-17

For us, Big Serve is about putting faith into action. If we profess Jesus but don’t outwardly express His love to others, we’re missing part of the mission of the Gospel. We want to be a church that positively impacts our community, whether or not they ever choose to attend Ridge Point. Self-giving love with no strings attached.

When Jesus Christ began his ministry, he ushered in kingdom of God living, challenging those who wanted to be his disciples to live and love in a way that was counter-cultural to the Greco-Roman world (and that’s still counter-cultural to our Western society, for that matter). When the early Christian church began to grow, it didn’t grow because of political backing, elaborate buildings, or prominent members. Instead, they were the ones who welcomed the alien, cared for the widow and orphan, treated women and children with dignity and respect, and provided means for the poor. The Christian movement was attractive because it demonstrated God’s heart in action.

Last Saturday, over 120 Fearless Followers sacrificed of their time to show their community the love of Christ.

and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry
and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday. – Isaiah 58:10

What an honor to partner with our church family to do together what we couldn’t accomplish individually. Never question your ability to make a difference— just look what 2 hours provided for 5,000 lives! Let’s continue to lean into demonstrating God’s heart by caring for the needs of those around us.
