Prayer Resources: Inspiration and Guidance for Everyday Prayers

Do you ever feel stuck in a rut in your prayer life? Sometimes, during my prayer time, I feel overwhelmed by the needs around me and don’t know where to begin. Other times, I start to pray and then get distracted. And sometimes, I get so caught up in the to-dos of daily life I simply forget to pray.

I love the book, “Every Moment Holy,” for those times when I am at a loss for words to pray and as a reminder that everything I do, no matter how mundane, can be done as an act of worship. The book is divided into sections such as Creation and Recreation, Blessing and Celebration, Sorrow and Lament, and Labor and Vocation. It also includes prayers for the First Snow, Marking of Birthdays, Anniversary of a Loss, and even for the Changing of Diapers!

Speaking of diapers, if you are in the throes of parenting, check out “To Light Their Way: A Collection of Prayers & Liturgies For Parents.” This book contains over 200 prayers that apply to very specific situations your child or children encounter, including milestones, holidays, times of transition, and daily occurrences, as well as a section of breath prayers that address many of the feelings and frustrations we face as parents.

These resources have been so helpful in bringing focus to my prayer life, giving me words when I have none of my own, and broadening the scope of my prayers. Check out the Instagram accounts for a sampling!
